Identification
Bright orange bill. Subspecies with bright blue head, wide yellow collar, orange-red to bright light red breast with thinner black barring. Center of belly is very dark to black.

Range and habitat
Subspecies occurs on Kai, Aru Islands, south-central New Guinea, Boigu and Saibai islands in Torres strait. Found in all kinds of forests, woodlands, savannas and plantations, to 2400 m.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species still has a large range but is declining on many islands (especially in Indonesia) because of trapping for the trade and locally habitat loss.
