Identification
Large amazon reaching 38 cm in length for a weight of 517 g. Plumage bright green with red shoulder patches. This subspecies has yellow forehead, bright yellow nape, red bend of wing, bill horn colored with no black.

Range and habitat
This subspecies is endemic to Sula Valley in northwestern Honduras. The species is found in western and eastern coasts of Mexico south to Belize, Honduras and north-east Guatemala.

Conservation
IUCN RED LIST : ENDANGERED
CITES : Appendix I
Status : The species has gone trough a dramatic decline with more than 90% of specimens lost. Magna seems to be the safest subspecies in the wild.
