Identification
Adults grow to 33 cm in length for a weight of 232 g. Plumage is entirely green with slight yellow tinge on breast and belly. Sometimes red spots on head. Bill dirty horn-colored. Large pinkish-grey eye-ring.

Range and habitat
Species found in Mexico and Central America south to Nicaragua. This subspecies occurs in eastern Mexico (Nuevo Leon and Tamaulipas to Veracruz). Lives in all kinds of woodlands, swamp forests and arid scrub, locally to 2600 m.

Status : The species remains locally common and quite safe within its range.
