Identification
46 cm in length for a weight of 1.2 kg. Large tinamou with brownish plumage with slight grey tinge on belly. Small black stripes on wing feathers. Black bill, golden-brown feathers on sides of neck and cheeks.

Range and habitat
Central and South America, from mexico to Colombia, east to Guianas and central Brazil, south to northern half of Bolivia. Found in dense and tall primary and secondary forest with sparse ground cover.

Status : The species is likely to suffer significant declines over the upcoming decades because of intense deforestation. Species is also hunted.
