Identification
Adults can grow to a total length of 26 cm (with an 18 cm long tail) for a weight of 5.3 grams. Plumage is globally dark iridescent green with grey-black wing and very long black graduated tail with green feather edges. Small black bill.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the eastern part of South America (Andes), from north Colombia to south-east Peru. Subspecies found in north and central Peru. Lives in forest edges and gardens with bushes, from 2600 to 4000 meters.

Status : The species seems to remain common in most of its range although, in some areas, its preferred habitats have been severely altered.
