Identification
The species can reach about 35 cm in length. Very large head, big eyes, large mouth. Dorsally flattened body. Short and broad pectoral fins. Fringes of warts found under mouth and on sides. Coloration brown with clearer mottling.

Range and habitat
The species lives in the Indo-Pacific area, from the Red Sea and Persian gulf to south Japan and North Australia, east to Philippines. Lives in coastal reef areas, estuaries and mangroves.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species’ status hasn’t been assessed. It has a huge range and remains quite common. It isn’t targeted by fisheries, at least on a global scale.
