Identification
Adults can reach a length up to 13 cm although it is usually smaller. Very warty skin with small white skin-extensions covering its body. Coloration variable, from yellowish to almost red with very faint dark spot at basis of dorsal fin.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Indo-Pacific region, from Red Sea and East Africa to all central Pacific Islands, including Desventuradas islands. Found in tidepools, lagoons and seaward reefs, down to 75 meters deep.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species is common in its huge range where suitable habitat occurs. It is rarely collected for the aquarium trade but may be facing loss of habitat.
