Identification
Adults can reach a maximum length of 80 cm. Fairly slender species with long jaws. Coloration is yellowish-green to beige with vertical brown bars sometimes broken into large spots on flanks and small black spots on face.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Indo-Pacific area, from Madagascar to Society Islands, north to South Japan, south to Queensland. Lives in lagoons, reef flats and seaward reefs, down to 50 meters deep.

Status : The species seems to be at least locally common within its huge range. It is widespread and occasionally collected for the trade.
