Identification
The species grows to 43 cm long. Straight forehead profile but humped back. Coloration olive-brown to orange-yellow with slightly narrower black lines on entire body. Fins equally olive to yellow-orange with black radiating lines.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in South America and is endemic to Brazil, being found in the Rio Tapajos and its tributaries. Occurs mostly in rivers with debris, aquatic vegetation and rocks.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : This species has been recently discovered. It has a fairly small range and could become threatened by habitat degradation.
