Identification
Adults can reach 45 cm in length for a weight of 1,45 kg. Forehead profile straight to slightly concave. Large hump on back. Very large head with blue eyes. Coloration uniformly dark olive blue-grey with yellow-olive tinge on forehead.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in South America and is endemic to Colombia, being found in the Magdalena and Cauca river basins. Lives in large rivers, in backwater areas of main riverbeds.

IUCN RED LIST : NEAR THREATENED
CITES : Not Listed
Status : This species’ habitat is under threat and it is heavily fished for the pet trade. More data is needed for possible uplisting.
