Identification
The species grows to 3,2 cm in length. Coloration translucent silvery-yellow with yellow and black longitudinal bands on flanks, black band being often wider. Eye with yellow circle and red line. Caudal fin with yellow base and black band.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in south America and is endemic to the Pantanal area of Brazil, being found in the upper Rio Paraguai basin. Lives in minor tributaries, headwater rivers and temporarily flooded plains.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : This species seems to remain safe in the wild but is still collected for the trade, despite captive breeding.
