Identification
Adults can reach up to 2.2 cm in length. Cylindrical body with small mouth and large eyes. Transparent silvery body with bright turquoise longitudinal band from upper eye to adipose fin on back. Bright red tail peduncle and rear belly.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in South America, in the western and northern areas of the Amazon River Basin and Solimoes River in Colombia, Peru and west Brazil. Lives in acidic blackwater streams, clearwater streams but avoids whitewater rivers.

Status : The species hasn’t been assessed yet. It is still collected in huge numbers and this, coupled with habitat destruction, could become a threat.
