Identification
The species grows to 16,3 cm in length. Slender body, mostly silvery with slight greenish tinge on flanks and dark flank scales’ edges. Broad longitudinal band starting mid flanks and going to lower tail fin peduncle, edged with red there.

Range and habitat
The species is found in South America , from Venezuela to Brazil in most big river basins (Amazon, Rio Negro, Orinoco…). Occurs in rivers, flooded forests and streams.

IUCN RED LIST : NOT LISTED
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species’ status in the wild has yet to be assessed but it is thought to be at least locally common. Levels of harvesting for trade need monitoring.
