Identification
The species can reach up to 36,5 cm in length but is usually much smaller. Fairly small head with short blunt snout and small mouth. Hardly any visible barbels. Dusky pectoral fins, other fins with dark margins. Greenish body, clear belly.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in river drainages in Northern Vietnam and south China (Yangtze, Pearl and Changjiang rivers mainly). Found in rivers and flooded agricultural fields.

IUCN RED LIST : DATA DEFICIENT
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has a fairly large range but the presence of dams and water pollution may have caused at least local extinctions if not more.
