Identification
The species grows to 20 cm in length. Large round head with broad upturned mouth, large silvery eyes and large spine on bottom of gill coverts. Coloration pinkish-red with redder fins with broad dark base and nearly white edges.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Western Pacific Ocean, from Japan to Taiwan and Midway Islands. Lives around seamounts and insular upper slopes, from 320 to 660 meters deep.

Status : This species has a wide distribution and lives in very deep waters. It isn’t known to face any threats at this time.
