Identification
Adults can reach a maximum length of 5.5 cm. Deep body, slightly compressed laterally. Mouth slightly oriented upwards. Coloration is brown with reddish areas on head and shiny blue spots on each flank scales.

Range and habitat
The species is found in Central America and is endemic to the San Juan river system in Mexico. Lives in rivers, near waterfalls, in semi-arid country near dry forests.

Status : The species has completely disappeared from the wild and occured in only a single area. It is vulnerable to water pollution and disturbance.
