Identification
Adults can reach a total length of 3.4 cm. Round head with big eyes. Coloration light brown, darker on belly with dark blotches and shiny blue vertical lines on flanks. Dorsal, pelvic and anal fins with bright shiny blue stripes and dots.

Range and habitat
The species is found in south-Eastern USA, from Georgia in in Lower Altamaha river drainage to central peninsular Florida. Lives in swamps and very slow moving rivers with muddy bottom.

Status : The species has a large range and remains common in many areas. Some populations are thriving or even increasing.
