Identification
Adults can reach a maximum length of 8 cm. Overall coloration dark blue with lighter blue edges on fins. Face, nape and upper back bright orange with violet tinge on cheeks and violet eye-ring. Tail fin is yellow.

Range and habitat
This species is found in the western Indian Ocean, from Somalia to South Africa, near coasts and around nearby oceanic islands. Lives in coral rubble areas and areas with branching corals, to 70 meters deep.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species seems to be fairly safe in the wild from the trade since only very few populations are targeted. However habitat loss is a threat.
