Notes : No subspecies known.
Adults can reach a maximum length of 22 cm. Unmistakable. Body mostly orange to orange brown with broad horizontal and wavy bright blue lines running from head to tail peduncle. Dark blue dorsal and anal fins. Yellow tail.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in the western Pacific Ocean, from southern Japan and Taiwan to Malay Peninsula. Usually found in rocky and coral reefs, from 5 to 60 meters.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species is regularly collected for aquarium trade but this isn’t considered as a threat at the moment. It remains fairly common within its range.
