Identification
Adults reach 45 cm. Dorsal and anal fins pointed without elongated filaments. Coloration mostly yellow with dark dot on each flank scales. Fins and face darker yellow. Black area near tail peduncle. Double-edged grey spot on gill coverts.

Range and habitat
This species occurs in the eastern Atlantic Ocean, from Senegal and Cape Verde islands to Gulf of Guinea islands, Gabon and Congo. Lives in clear water rocky reefs, down to 40 meters deep.
