Identification
Adults can grow to 45 cm in length. Dorsal and anal fins with long yellow extensions. Broad yellow edge on tail fin. Coloration light blue to dull yellow-green with clearer yellow edges on each flank scales. Forehead and throat bright blue.

Range and habitat
This species occurs in the western Atlantic Ocean, from Florida and Bahamas to Puerto Rico and throughout the coasts of Gulf of Mexico, to Yucatan. Lives in rocky and coral reefs, from 2 to 92 meters deep.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has a large range and doesn’t seem to suffer from any threats at this time. Water pollution and habitat loss could become issues.
