Identification
Maximum length is 12 cm. This species is unmistakable with its vertical brown and white bars from head to tail. In each white bar is a vertical yellow line. Tail has brown, spots. Pelvic and anal fins display bright yellow coloration.

Range and habitat
From the Eastern Indian Ocean (Cocos Keeling Islands) to Hawaii and south to the Great Barrier reef. Lives in rock crevices on steep outer slopes of coral reefs.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : Common in the wild, habitat usually preserved as the species lives deep below surface. Collection of adult specimens for aquarium trade minimal.
