Notes : No subspecies known.

Identification
The species grows to 20 cm in length. Entire body golden yellow with clear yellow and black edges on fins. Flanks show rows of dark dots forming curving horizontal lines. White snout with black tip, black and white bands on head.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the western Pacific Ocean and South China Sea, from Central Japan coasts to Taiwan, South China and south to central Vietnam. Lives in rocky reefs with algae and a few corals, down to 30 meters.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has a small range and coral reefs have been drastically reduced within its range but the species doesn’t fully depend on corals.
