Identification
Adults reach a body length of 7.5 cm. Transparent body with a pinkish coloration. Big black and yellow eyes, round snout and fairly large head. Dark red band going from eye to anal fin, large black band going from forehead to tail.

Range and habitat
Indopacific from Red Sea and Gulf of Oman to South Africa, eastwards to south Japan and north Australia. Lives in inshore reef areas, mostly near caves and rubble piles, down to 30 m deep.

Status : The species remains widespread and globally common in its large range. No imminent threat recorded.
