Identification
Adults can reach a maximum length of 14 cm. Body coloration is dark brown. Vertical white band behind eye and on tail peduncle. Large white area from back to belly, becoming wider and tinged with light brown on belly. Clearer lips.

Range and habitat
This species occurs in the western Pacific Ocean, from eastern and South Australia to New Caledonia. Lives in rocky and coral reefs at depths from 10 to 45 meters.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : This species has one of the smallest ranges for an anemone fish but seems to remain locally common. We need a better understanding of its conservation status.
