Notes : No subspecies known.

Identification
Adults unmistakable, entirely bright golden-orange with thin blue edge to fins and small light blue eyes. Juveniles covered with blue spots on upper half of body.

Range and habitat
East-central Pacific Ocean, from Monterey Bay in California (USA) to south Baja California (Mexico) and Guadalupe Island. Found around rocky bottoms, near caves and kelp beds.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species is widespread and common around its range. There are no signs of decline noted and it seems to be facing no known threats at this time.
