Notes : No subspecies known.

Identification
Face and back blue, flanks grey to yellow with bright blue dots on every scale, making the fish look entirely blue. Yellow pelvic and anal fins. Tail fin dull yellow with blue edges and lines.

Range and habitat
Western Indian Ocean, from South Africa and Zanzibar to Madagascar, Seychelles and Réunion. Found around lagoons and seaward reefs amongst corals over sandy bottoms.

IUCN RED LIST : NOT LISTED
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has a small range. Its dependence on coral reefs and the fact that it is more and more collected for the trade makes it possibly threatened. Population trends need to be studied.
