Identification
Adults can reach a maximum length of 6 cm. Elongated and fairly cylindrical body with large tail peduncle and relatively small head. Back is slightly humped. Coloration is uniform dark blue. Turquoise and black edges on fins.

Range and habitat
The species is found in the western central part of the Pacific Ocean, from Great Barrier Reef to New Caledonia. Lives in lagoons and seaward reefs, usually near caves, from 2 to 15 meters.
