Identification
Adults can reach a maximum length of 10 cm. Cylindrical body, short squarish head with large mouth and big eyes. Ground coloration is beige-orange, darkening towards tail with large bright blue spots covering whole body. Yellow eyes.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the eastern Pacific ocean and can only be found in the Gulf of California and Cortez sea. Lives in sandy areas close to reefs, at depths down to 12 meters.

Status : The species has a very restricted range but is found in big colonies and can even be locally abundant. Therefore, it’s not considered threatened.
