Identification
Body color greyish-white, pink tinge to fins. Face bright yellow, dull yellow blotch near gill coverts. Large blue band from cheeks to gill coverts, fainter blue markings around first third of body.

Range and habitat
Indo-Pacific, from east Africa to Tuamoto Islands, south Japan and Lord Howe Island. Found around soft and hard bottom in clear lagoons and seaward reefs.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : Widespread and common species with a huge range. It caught for trade in large numbers but this doesn’t seem to be a threat. Nonetheless, it is known to be bred regularly under human care.
