Identification
The species grows to 13 cm in length. High hump on back. Coloration mostly blue-violet with orange-yellow tinge on cheeks. Lower flanks are tinged yellow and belly is bright yellow. All fins bright yellow except from dark blue dorsal fin.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the western Atlantic Ocean, from Florida to Gulf of Mexico, Lesser Antilles, Panama and Venezuela. Lives in inner and outer rocky and coral reefs, from 3 to 15 meters deep.

Status : The species has a wide range but is globally uncommon. To date, it seems to suffer from no threats.
