Identification
The species grows to 13 cm in length. High hump on back. Coloration entirely bright blue with light violet tinge on upper back and clearer towards belly. Tail fin colorless with two broad black bands on upper and lower edges of fins.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the western Atlantic Ocean, from Florida to Cuba and to Yucatan Peninsula (Mexico). Lives in shallow rocky and coral reefs, from 3 to 20 meters deep.

Status : The species has a wide range and seems to be fairly common to locally abundant. It suffers from no threats at this time.
