Identification
Adults can grow to 2 meters in length for a weight of 60 kg. Elongate but robust body, adults with humped back, wide mouth. Caudal fin short, rounded and with dirty yellow tinge. Rest of body covered with large dark silvery scales.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Indo-Pacific area, from east Persian Gulf to China and Taiwan, south to New Guinea and north Australia. Lives in oastal waters, estuaries and lagoons, to 40 meters deep.

Status : The species has a large range and seems to be facing no permanent threats at this time.
