Identification
The species grows up to 9,5 cm in length. Greatly elongated white pelvic fins, pointed upper lip. Males with pink face, yellow flanks getting orange near tail. Females entirely golden orange. Both sexes with large red area on dorsal fin.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Indo-Pacific area, from Christmas Islands to the Line Islands, north to south Japan, south to Great Barrier Reef. Lives in upper edges of steep outer reef slopes, down to 40 meters deep.

Status : The species has a large range and can be locally abundant. Collection for the trade and habitat loss aren’t confirmed threats yet.
