Identification
The species grows to 12 cm in length. Both sexes show broad bright orange curved band going from eye to pectoral fin base. Males are green-yellow with yellow fins, females are pink-yellow with orange edges to caudal fin.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in western Pacific Ocean, from east Indonesia and Philippines to Palau, Vanuatu and Great Barrier reef. Lives in clear outer reef slopes, near coral outcrops, from 3 to 35 meters deep.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species is widespread and locally abundant. It is sometimes caught for the trade but this doesn’t seem to be a threat.
