Identification
Adults can reach a maximum length of 7.5 cm. Coloration light pink to white with star-like black blotches on front half of body, blotched becoming redder on back half. Red dots on dorsal and caudal fins. Pectoral fins with black spot.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Indian Ocean from East Africa to Sumatra. It can be found mostly around oceanic islands. Found around protected coral or rocky reefs, rubble areas with algae cover, down to 40 m.

Status : This species seems to be locally common in its wide range. Its populations are mostly safe and face no known threats.
