Identification
The species grows to about 4 cm in length. Males are longer with a much longer yellow and black dorsal fin. Females have a short black dorsal fin. Body color bright red with black and white markings. Yellow pectoral fins with black band.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the western Pacific Ocean, only around Jolo Island in the south-western Philippines. Lives in coral rubble areas with soft and stony corals outcrops, 20 to 38 m deep.

Status : This species’ status has yet to be assessed. It lives relatively deep but has a small range. Collection for the trade is likely the greatest threat.
