Identification
Adults can reach 30 cm in length. Global coloration is silvery, often with slight yellow tinge. Flanks with three broad longitudinal brown bands, the upper and lower ones with ragged edges. Caudal fin banded, black blotch on dorsal fin.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Indo-Pacific area, from Red Sea, Persian Gulf and East Africa to southeast Asia and the Arafura Sea. Lives in coastal areas, often in brackish waters, to 10 meters deep.

Status : The species is widespread and common. No threats are known to this species long-term survival at this time.
