Identification
The species grows to 7 to 10 cm in length. Large upturned mouth, big eye, flattened, slightly convex head and back, round belly. Body with dark edges on scales. Black blotches and bands on flanks, black anal fin, yellow tail fin.

Range and habitat
This species occurs in southern Asia and seems to be endemic to Myanmar, occurring in the Salween, Sittaung and Ayeyarwaddy river systems. Lives only in freshwater rivers, occurring in lower parts of river systems.

Status : The species is endemic to a small area and there are no studies done on the quality of its habitat and the trend of its populations.
