Identification
Adults can reach 50 cm in length. Round-shaped back, belly flat when viewed from side. Two small humps on forehead and back. Coloration silvery with vertical rows of black dots on upper back half of flanks. Broad dorsal and anal fins.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Indo-Pacific area, from India to Japan, south to northern Australia, eastwards to New Guinea. Lives in inshore habitats such as estuaries, harbors and reefs, from 10 to 49 m.
