Notes : No subspecies known.

Identification
Body yellow to orange. Small crowded blue dots on head, belly and upper back (more scattered there). Dark area around eyes. Color variation with evenly spaced blue dots on whole body.

Range and habitat
Indo-Pacific area, from Aldabra islands and Maldives to Indonesia and New Caledonia. Found in coral-rich areas of lagoons, in shallow waters and often around Acropora corals.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has a large range and doesn’t seem to be uncommon. It is caught for food and for the trade but no negative impact has been registered from these activities so far.
