Notes : No subspecies known.

Identification
Coloration greenish-yellow to brownish-red. Face greenish with pink-red dots and lines around eyes. Caudal fin with white band and numerous white dots. Dorsal fin with white rear-end.

Range and habitat
Indo-Pacific, from East Africa to Marquesas and Tuamoto Islands, to south Japan and New Caledonia. Found around mixed areas of sand, rubble and coral in lagoons and coastal reefs.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has a huge range where it is widespread and globally fairly common to common. It is occasionally collected for the trade and for food but this isn’t considered a threat so far.
