Identification
Slim cylindrical body with very long snout. Adults are yellow-green to pinkish or bright yellow, often with white blotches. Juveniles with longitudinal olive-brown, black and white stripes.

Range and habitat
Indo-Pacific, from Red Sea and East Africa to Hawaii and Easter Islands, to South Japan and Lord Howe island. Found around seagrass beds, most often around flat areas and lagoons.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species is widespread and common, with a huge range. Very rarely caught for the trade. Seagrass beds are threatened by pollution and destruction from fisheries and industrial activities.
