Identification
The species grows to 6,5 cm in length. Females are red with a black spot on tail peduncle and white belly. Males bright red with two vertical pink bands on flanks, pink tail peduncle, white chin and belly, bright yellow dorsal fin.

Range and habitat
This species occurs in the western and central Pacific Ocean, from eastern Indonesia (Borneo and Bali) to New Guinea, Philippines and Palau. Lives in protected coral and rubble slopes, from 6 to 40 meters deep.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has a fairly large range but occurs in areas where habitats can be affected. So far it faces no imminent threats.
