Notes : No subspecies known.

Identification
Most of body bright red with very faint blue lines on head. Lower flanks and belly pure white. Elongated filament on dorsal fin, red and black color. Tail with dark edge, black anal and pelvic fins.

Range and habitat
Eastern Indian Ocean, from Andaman islands to Sri Lanka and Sumatra (Indonesia). Found around reef slopes, above rubble and corals.

IUCN RED LIST : DATA DEFICIENT
CITES : Not Listed
Status : This species might only occur around the northern tip of Sumatra as its true range is unknown and the other populations near Sri Lanka could belong to another species.
