Notes : No subspecies known.

Identification
Unmistakable, head bright violet turning to pink, violet area on belly. Yellow vermiculation on entire body. Upper back bright orange-yellow. Violet-blue area on dorsal fin, reticulated anal fin.

Range and habitat
Western Pacific ocean, in Caroline and Marshall islands, occasionally around Saipan and Palau. Found around steep outer reef slopes, over sand and rubble, in deep waters.

IUCN RED LIST : DATA DEFICIENT
CITES : Not Listed
Status : This species has a very small range and does not occur in any protected areas. It has a very high value in the trade and is occasionally caught. Impact of these practices needs to be assessed.
