Identification
Adults can reach 9,9 cm. Juveniles and females are red-orange and white with more or less visible longitudinal blue lines. Adults are dark green-blue with black and red fins, black tail spot, blue longitudinal lines and long pectoral fins.

Range and habitat
This species occurs in the western Pacific Ocean, from Japan (Sagami bay) to Philippines, Indonesia and western Australia. Lives in seaward reefs, in coral and rubble areas, from 3 to 35 meters deep.

Status : The species is likely a species complex and needs to be reassessed after taxonomic work. Targeted for trade in many parts of its range.
