Notes : No subspecies known.

Identification
Whole body bright lemon-yellow (belly sometimes pinkish-white). Pinkish face with horizontal green lines. White edged round black spots on dorsal fin. Fins red with green bands.

Range and habitat
Indo-Pacific, from Christmas Island and Solomon Islands to Tonga, south Japan and Rowley Shoals. Found near reef edges, over sand and rubble bottoms.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species is widespread and doesn’t seem to be threatened by habitat loss. It is caught in big numbers for the trade and the impact of the captures need to be assessed.
