Notes : No subspecies known.

Identification
Slender body, white dorsal fin. Head bright yellow with green and pink bands. Tail fin with oblique red and green-blue bands. Entire flanks and belly dark purple-red. Yellow pectoral fins.

Range and habitat
Western Indian Ocean, from East and South Africa to Madagascar, Seychelles and Chagos archipelago. Found around steep seaward reefs, in sandy and rubble areas.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species doesn’t have a big range but lives in deep waters and seems to be safe from habitat loss. It is collected for the trade but this isn’t believed to be a threat at this time.
