Identification
Adult coloration bright deep blue to turquoise blue with red edges to each flank scales, forming checkered pattern. Broad pink markings on cheeks and forehead. Dark red fins with green bands.

Range and habitat
Pacific Ocean, the species being endemic to Hawaii. Found around lagoons and seaward reefs, in coral-rich and sandy areas.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species remains common within its very small range and safe as most of its range lies within a strictly protected marine area. It has been bred under human care since 2015.
